Learn How To Rap Like A Hip Hop Artist

Author: Steve Hartzog

Have you ever heared someone in a cipher freestyling and wanted to learn how to rap? Or have you tried to rap around your friends and maybe you were not as hot as you would like to be? Well I may be able to help you with that. I've been rhyming since I was like fourteen years old and, I'm kind of hot if I say so myself. For real though, if you want to learn how to rap it's not as hard as you think. The easiest way to start learning how to rhyme is to just start freestyling. Even if your just playing around the more you do it, the better you will eventually get. You will get even better when you start writing your own rhymes. That is the real key. When you first learn how to rap it's good to do alot of writing because the more you wright, the more you will see how words flow, how they rhyme together and different syllable patterns.

To start writing all you have to do is, think of your first line: Lets say your first line is "I spit more fire than anybody can imagine", All you have to do now is think of a word that rhymes with the last word in that bar "imagine", (By the way, one line equals one bar in a rap verse, and each verse is sixteen bars). So in this quick example the word we'll use to rhyme with "imagine" is "Aladdin". Now all we have to do is think of something clever that can lead up to the word "Aladdin". Like this: "I spit more fire than anybody can imagine","I stay fly just like a carpet ride from Aladdin." See how easy that is!

In that particular line I created a metaphore and I rhymed the word "fly" and "ride". That is something that you will learn with more practice. A metaphore is when you compare one thing to another in your rhyme. They play a big part in hip hop and rhyming. One of my favorite songs of all times is the Commen joint called "I Used To Love Her" in the song it seemed like he was talking about a girl but he was really talking about hip hop music. Basically the whole song was a metaphore. The more you write the better your freestyle will become. You will be wack at first, but don't worry though because your just starting out. Keep writing and practicing and you will get better with time. There is a little tool I refer to on my website at www.hip-hop-music-fan.com that will help you out as you learn how to rap. It's a kool tool that will explain more about metaphores and help you think of words that rhyme together.

So the first thing you need to do is practice your freestyle and write. Try to pattern your self after your favorite rapper at first. Then once you start getting better, start to come up with your own style and your own sound.
